SmartICE is an Indigenous-led climate change adaptation organization that empowers northern communities to combine their Indigenous and local knowledge of ice with innovative monitoring and satellite mapping for ice travel safety. Our community-operated services provide invaluable, data-driven insights into ice thickness and local ice travel conditions in near real-time. We embrace a social enterprise business model that aims to expand opportunities for economic and social development in northern Indigenous communities while supporting cultural practices and livelihoods.
